This post is OBDLink MX review. OBDLink MX is OBD2 adapter via Bluetooth connection that accelerate its performance by up to 2.5 times on mobile apps, up to 4 times on PC software, as compared to budget OBD adapters. It can show more and faster screen updates and graph points. This is the fastest and best bluetooth obd2 adapter on the market today.

OBDLink MX is also capable to access SW CAN & MS CAN, the only Bluetooth OBD 2 adater that can access some GM & Ford networks in addition to standard OBD 2 protocols. It is only 2 inch long, small and compact design.

The price difference of OBD adapters is based on the technology used in the adapters. Most budget adapters are using ELM327 chip. ELM has been around for quite a while, and it only supports one bus. Generally, that is all needed to retrieve OBD codes. The high performance adapter like OBDLink MX uses STN1110 chip. It supports multiple high-speed and low-speed buses. When you need to monitor many PIDs at a time, it has a great advantage over ELM327 chip. The video above shows real-time PIDs reading without a lag. It is awesome when not only real-time monitoring but also data-logging. Faster data transfer means more graph points and more accurate in every second.

There is another advantage STN1110 has over ELM327. STN1110 has integrated power saving features. This allows you to leave the adapter plugged without draining the vehicle’s battery. ELM327 doesn’t have any power saving features.

Unfortunately, it’s not compatible with Apple products. This is the adapter for Apple products. It comes with software for Windows, OBDwiz. It’s also compatible with many 3rd party apps and software, such as Torque, DashCommand, obdCANeX, ScanXL, etc…

The pros

  • the fastest communication with your device
  • supports SW CAN & MS CAN protocols which GM and Ford use
  • small and compact design
  • Bluetooth connection eliminates all cables
  • you can leave it plugged in (it won’t drain the vehicle’s battery)
  • compatible with many apps and software
  • include software for Windows (OBDwiz $39.99 value)
  • 3 years warranty
  • 90 days money back guarantee

The Cons

  • expensive (regular price $199.95)
